Another important yet rather static part of the industrial-archaeological heritage of the Tobacco Region are the dozens of tobacco chests that colour the Wervik landscape. Today, the drying of tobacco is largely done in plastic dryers. When the leaf has obtained the desired colour, the remaining part (the grain) is dried in the ast or drying container. The room is heated with coke or gas to a temperature of 70°C.
